Ellein started learning ballet when she was five, but didn’t discover her true passion for dancing until high school, when she began training on Hip Hop, Locking, Popping, House, and Jazz Funk in Hong Kong. During college at Carnegie Mellon University, she choreographed and danced for the school’s semi-annual Dancers Symposium, as well as their annual fashion show, Lunar Gala.  She was also the Co-Captain of the school’s Hip Hop crew, International FreeStylers.  After graduating, she continued training at StudioDanz Hong Kong, where she was recruited to join an all-girls dance crew called SIS, and invited to participate in the Dazzle Live showcase in Osaka as a guest performer.

After working in finance for 3 years, Ellein became a bilingual high school math teacher in NYC, where she also advised and choreographed for student dance/theater teams.  Ellein spent several years as a full-time mom caring for her two daughters, who enjoy spontaneous dance sessions at home!  In recent years, she has pivoted into the field of data science at a few tech companies, and enjoys practicing a growth mindset in every aspect of her life, including motherhood, dance and career.

This is Ellein’s 13th season with DanceWorks NYC and her 3rd season choreographing.  She is super pumped and thankful for the opportunity to co-choreograph again with her fellow mommy dance friend, Shirley!
