Kayla Kuzniewski is excited to be with DanceWorks New York City for a second season, this time as a Contemporary Choreographer. Kayla has been dancing since the age of 3, training and competing in multiple styles at Maple Avenue Dance on Long Island. She developed a love of Ballet at a young age that has provided a strong technical base for her current focus on Contemporary dance.
After graduating high school, Kayla attended Fairfield University where she was a Choreographer for the Dance Ensemble for three years. As a rising Sophomore, Kayla co-founded Fairfield Dance Fusion, the only student-run competitive dance club at the University. She acted as Co-Captain in her Sophomore year and remained on the board as Technique Coordinator through her graduation. As a Senior, Kayla was elected to be President of Dance Ensemble, and was responsible for organizing 65 student dancers and planning the end of the year showcase that featured over 30 student-choreographed numbers, seven of which were done by her.
Kayla graduated cum laude from Fairfield University in 2016 with BAs in her three majors, History, Philisophy, and English, and in her minor, Judaic Studies, and is now a first year at St. John's University School of Law. She often returns to Fairfield, where she is currently choreographing for Dance Fusion. Kayla feels so lucky to have found a way to continue to feed her passion for dancing and performing through DanceWorks, and she looks forward to now having the chance to continue to expand her journey as a Choreographer.
