Lauren Ashley grew up in Newport Coast, CA and began her dance training at Irvine Dance Academy at the age of 7. Through the years she danced with several studios including Ballet Pacifica, Daria Bearden Dance Studio, Saddleback Dance Center and Focus Dance Center. Mostly focusing on ballet from a young age, she performed in The Nutcracker 11 times, playing the roles of Clara, Clara’s friend, Chinese, Dew Drop Fairy, Flower, Mirliton, Mouse, Russian, Snowflake, Soldier and Spanish, also including a performance with Joffrey Ballet as a Soldier in The Nutcracker. Lauren competed in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix and placed 2nd in contemporary. Starting at the age of 11 she went away every summer for ballet intensive programs. These included ABT, Kirov Academy, Boston Ballet and Saddleback Dance Center. As she grew older she joined her high school dance team in addition to a competitive team at Focus Dance Center. While competing with Focus Dance Center at Tremaine, Lauren received a yearlong convention scholarship. After graduating high school she pursued dance as her major at Orange Coast College. There she became part of the nationally acclaimed dance team, going on to win 1st place in both Jazz & Hip Hop at UDA. Making a big decision after being at OCC for 2 years, Lauren decided to switch her major and school, transferring to The Art Institute of Orange County where she earned a BS in Advertising. Lauren is very grateful for the performance opportunities that DanceWorks NYC has given her and she looks forward to a great Season 10!
