Born in Bosnia, Maja moved to Canada at the age of 7 where she began her training in multiple dance styles. As a dancer, Maja has performed around North America, a highlight being representing Team Canada at the International Dance Organization (IDO) World Dance Championships in 2008, winning a bronze medal. Since moving to NY in 2014, Maja has performed and choreographed for productions by Green Space, DanceWorks NYC, Six Degrees Dance, Nacre Dance and worked on short dance films. She has led workshops for immersive theatre company Journey Lab and is featured in the Dance as Art photography series by photographer Kevin Richardson. Most recently, Maja’s choreography was featured in the 2017 Young Choreographer’s Festival presented by Emily Bufferd. Maja is passionate about giving voice to all communities to share their stories through dance, and volunteers her time to organizations with this aim, including the NACHMO Artist Committee and Dance/NYC. Maja is excited for her third season choreographing for DanceWorks New York City!
