Alex began dancing at age 3 in her hometown of San Diego, CA. From ages 7-16, she trained in ballet according to Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabi and completed yearly RAD examinations. At age 15, she attended a summer intensive with Joffrey Ballet. At age 12, she began dancing under the mentorship of Donna Cory at The Bishop's School in La Jolla, CA, who encouraged her interest in choreography. From ages 13-18, she choreographed many pieces for school productions and was twice awarded the school's Choreography Award, voted on by her dance peers in the school's advanced company, Performing Dance Group (PDG).

Alex completed her undergraduate degree at Williams College, where she earned a BA in Biology. While at Williams, she choreographed and danced for several college groups, including Kusika (African dance), CoDa (contemporary dance), and the Student Choreography Coalition (StuCho). She also danced and performed with several Artists-in-Residence at the college, including Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, H.T. Chen & Dancers, ZviDance, and Batsheva - The Young Ensemble.

After college, Alex returned to The Bishop's School as a hired choreographer for PDG. In 2023, she (and Gabriel Martinez, another DanceWorks dancer) organized a memorial concert in honor of the life and legacy of Bishop’s dance teacher Donna Cory. The show featured 20 original pieces of choreography and one re-staged work, and involved 54 alumni and current students based in 13 cities, many of whom were reunited for the first time in a decade.

Alex works as a research ethics analyst at a nonprofit that researches the impacts of anti-poverty/development programs across many countries in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Alex is excited to be returning to DanceWorks New York City for her fourth season as a dancer and third as a choreographer. She is especially grateful to be choreographing with Gabriel Garon, with whom she’s been dancing since 2014. She'd like to thank Donna Cory, whose memory and constant encouragement of her choreography inspired her to seek out DanceWorks.
