Angela Weigel graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in May 2019. There, Angela received the Friends of Dance Research Award for her senior thesis research and presented her research findings in the "5 College Dance Symposium". While at Umass Angela was also vice president of the Umass Dance company where she choreographed for each of the 8 showcases she took part in, varying in styles from contemporary to jazz and lyrical. Angela has experience choreographing at dance studios with children and adults in all styles of dance and her choreography has won many adjudicating and overall awards at various dance competitions, Including one of her soloists who won Teen Miss Turn It Up in 2019. She continues to choreograph competitive solos for her home studio in Massachusetts. 

Currently Angela resides in Brooklyn, NY where she is a full time Special Education Preschool Teacher. She received her masters degree in teaching from Relay Graduate school of Education in June 2021 and she is an active dancer and member of Variety Pack Collective, DanceWorks NYC, and Continuum Dance co. Most recently she performed in the Anthology33 Volume 5 showcase, DanceWave’s Adult showcase, and music artist Gwendolyn Fitz’s solo show. She recently completed choreographing and directing a contemporary dance film, “Empires” for Continuum Dance Co.’s Spring Film Festival July 2023. She also co-choreographed with her lovely co-choreographer Jessica Lewinson in seasons 18-20 of DanceWorks New York City, and has had her choreography selected to be featured in Artist After Hours' Emerging Artists Showcase in 2021 with Variety Pack Collective. Angela plans to continue dancing in companies across New York and expand her love for performing, creating and teaching dance. She is so excited and honored to be choreographing alongside Jessica again for season 21 of DWNYC!
