Em Wein
Em Wein (they/them) is a dancer and choreographer in an open contemporary style that focuses on storytelling and commentary.
Em began dance as side training while they were a nationally competitive ice dancer. In high school, they transitioned from ice dance to ballet and participated in various workshops including the Orlando Ballet School Summer Intensive and the Christopher K. Morgan Winter Workshops. While attending Carnegie Mellon University, Em danced and choreographed for Dancer’s Symposium and served as a dancer, choreographer and Public Relations Manager for the contemporary dance company, INFRA Dance Company. They additionally choreographed for Lunar Gala’s 2020 show: Yesterday, one of the largest fashion shows in Pittsburgh, and their choreography has been featured to the song “Cold Cold Cold” that was shared on the social media pages of the band Cage the Elephant. They recently served as a resident choreographer for NACRE Dance Group after being awarded Winner of the So You Think You Can Choreograph 2023 competition.
This is Em’s third season choreographing with DanceWorks New York City. They're very excited and honored to be sharing their work with this incredible community for Season 24!
