Emma Holtzman
Emma Holtzman (she/they) is an artist, educator, and performer with over 18 years of training in ballet and hip hop. Inspired by natural rhythms and connections, Emma incorporates creative movement, improvisation, and dynamic textures to heal through dance. As a dance and yoga teacher, Emma aims for her students to leave class with a sense of joy and fulfillment.
Having began their training at the Dance School at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Mid-Westchester, Emma grew up working with Daniel Ulbricht from the New York City Ballet, Justin Sherwood from the Metropolitan Opera, and Mimi Wallace, an original student of the School of American Ballet with George Balanchine. While attending SUNY Geneseo, Emma expanded their repertoire with modern, jazz, and Bhangra, an Indian celebratory dance, and had the opportunity to perform with Geneseo Dance Ensemble, the Gajjda Bhangra Dance team, and choreograph annually for Orchesis, Geneseo’s collaborative performing arts company.
Emma’s performance credits include PMT Dance Company for a Nets half-time show at the Barclay’s Center, Open Dance Ensemble in several NYC showcases, and works by Phoebe Amory at Dixon Place and Green Space. And, this is Emma’s third season dancing with DanceWorks New York City. She couldn’t be more grateful to make their NYC choreographic debut in Season 24!
