Mahin is a professional contemporary & hip-hop choreographer from Princeton, NJ. He started his dance journey learning the Indian classical dance art of Bharatanatyam. In 2018, he accomplished his Arangatram receiving a B.A. (Visharad) degree in Bharatanatyam. He later traveled to Gujarat, India to receive his M.A. (Alankar) degree in Bharatanatyam from the Tanjor Institute of Arts. While studying Indian classical dance, Mahin also attended Broadway Dance Center’s Children & Teen Program to round out his dance training in Western styles of dance (e.g., Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Modern). There, he was a part of their audition-based dance company AIM (Artists in Motion). During his college studies in Boston, he learned from and participated in Boston’s Hip-Hop dance community, directing several dance teams, choreographing for teams and companies, and creating dance projects. He’s worked professionally as a choreographer for many years, through simple gigs. He now continues to choreograph contemporary and hip-hop pieces that are influenced by his unique background. Mahin aims to leverage his passion for creating art through movement by telling conceptual and important stories. His choreographic style is influenced by the several dance styles and techniques he has studied throughout his dance journey and aims to have a distinctive interpretation of musicality/texture.
