Shannon Luchs (she/her) started dancing at the age of three and has trained in various styles throughout the course of her career including jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and modern with a primary focus on ballet and pointe while training with the Pacific Festival Ballet company in Agoura Hills, California. Shannon spent two summers studying with the American Ballet Theatre and one summer working with Alonzo King at the LINES summer intensive in San Francisco. Shannon graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University where she received her BA in Psychology while double minoring in Dance, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Shannon later earned her Master's degree in social work from Hunter College and has worked for more than a decade serving the homeless population and individuals with mental illness.

While in Boston, Shannon choreographed for Boston University's Dance Theatre Group. Her choreography was selected to represent BU at the American Collegiate Dance Festival in 2011. Shannon's first professional dance opportunity was with BoSoma Dance Company where she worked for five years as a company dancer. While working with BoSoma, Shannon also co-directed BoSoma Dance Company’s first ever training company, BoSoma2, premiering choreography in 2014 and 2015. 

Since moving to New York in 2016, Shannon has worked for KAKE Dance Company, 92nd St. Y performing company, DoubleTake Dance, and IKADA Contemporary Dance Company where she has been their rehearsal director for the past four years. Shannon is thrilled to be dancing in her fourth season with DanceWorks and excited to debut her choreography for the first time on the DWNYC stage!
